FLEXUS BALASYSTEM AB TECHNOLOGY FOR BALING AND PACKAGING OF WASTE

Flexus Balasystem AB

Flexus Balasystem AB
of a Swedish manufacturer is a mobile system for compression, baling and packaging of any kind of solid municipal and industrial wastes. The system technology is already introduced in Germany, Denmark, Sweden, France, Great Britain, Italy, Japan, Korea, Spain, Portugal, Russia, Slovenia, Switzerland and others.

Flexus Balasystem AB is completed as follows:

  1. Baling unit
  2. Combined feeding conveyor
  3. Baling conveyor
  4. Bale gripper

In its mounted position, the machine has the following overall dimensions:
Length – 18,000 mm, Width = 7,578 mm, Height – 4,820 mm.

The machine capacity is up to 30 bales per hour. This a single machine produces in two-shift operating mode and 5-day workweek 115,000 bales per year.
The machine prevention is 2 hours per week.

The wastes arriving at the site are fed through the front loader into the bunker unit of the Flexus Balasystem AB system. The belt conveyor feeds to the baling unit the material received, where it is being pressed, forming a stable structure by using a plastic mesh. The cylindrical bale thus formed has a diameter of 1.20 m and a height of 1.20 m, and a volume of 1.3 m3. The weight of the bale depends on the weight of the waste:

Municipal wastes of organic nature     800 - 1150 kg
Municipal wastes of non-organic nature     600 - 800 kg
Industrial wastes     450 - 750 kg
Plastic wastes     550 - 600 kg
Plastic bottles     150 - 250 kg
Automobile tires     800 - 1200 kg
and others.

Wrapping of the pressed bale by mesh shapes the bale and prevents it from disintegration. This is a polyethylene mesh, and one roll weights 30 kg, that is sufficient to wrap about 100 bales. The bale is wrapped for 6-8 times, thus about 30 m of the mess is required for one bale.

The baling process is controlled by a computer system that monitors the compression level at the baling chamber and checks permanently whether the mesh is being folded properly.

After baling in an automatic way, the ready bale is fed to the packaging unit, where the bale is wrapped 6 to 8 times by a special РVС-foil with UV-protector.

In packaging the bale is ensured 50% overlapping of the РV-foil layers. Although the foil is thin, its soundness ensures reliable wrapping of the material and stops the process of decomposition. When the packaging process is completed, the foil is cut and the bale is fed to the outgoing conveyer. The bales are ready for transportation to the place of their temporary storage.

After that, in case the wastes contained in the bale should be preprocesses, the bale is opened by a fully automatic machine through a suitable mobile opener. The pressed material restores its initial appearance. The remaining parts of the mesh and the foil can be sorted in a separate bucket or to be used for further processing.

SPECIALIZED LOADING AND TRANSPORTATION EQUIPMENT

The Flexus Balasystem AB system is served by a specialized loading and transportation equipment, as follows:

  1. Front loader (bunker feeder) for feeding the solid wastes to the machine bunker for their processing.
  2. Loader with a specialized unit for loading and unloading of bales (bale-gripper).
  3. Trucks for bale transportation.

DESCRIPTION AND CHARACTERISTICS OF THE SITE

А/ Baling ground
The ground for mounting the system for acceptance of the daily quantity of the municipal wastes should be of sufficient area. The ground pavement should be reinforced concrete or asphalt-concrete with the required bearing capacity for positioning of the technical facilities and for the mechanized vehicles traveling. The system can operate indoor and outdoor but with an appropriate shed. On the ground are implemented drainage and collection systems for the waste liquids (infiltrate) and other special construction works for completing at the ground according to its designation. With respect to its infrastructure, the ground should be ensured with electricity supply system of the required power and water supply system. Outdoor lighting, fence, security are envisaged when necessary.
For the service and the management staff will be provided indoor work rooms, as well as sanitary and utility rooms.
The quantity of the received wastes can be measured by an automatic weighbridge mounted at the ground entrance.

B/ Storage ground
Storage of the packed bales is performed at leveled and preliminary rolled ground. The ground is covered before the first row of the packed bales is placed by high density polyethylene foil (geo-membranes) with a thickness of 2 mm.
Arrangement of the packed bales at the ground is made in rows in a height up to 10 rows, where the optimum number is 8 or about 8 m in height.
